Your Favourite Self Living

Same you. More choice.

A practical framework for getting to know yourself, understanding what pulls you away from you, and experimenting with choices that feel more like yours. Created by Emma to bridge the gap between knowing what you want and actually living it — in the life, body and capacity you have today.

A relationship with yourself, practised in real life.

Your Favourite Self is the version of you you love being. She evolves with your needs, responsibilities, energy and season of life. Some days she makes the brave choice. Some days she showers, eats and asks for help. Both count.

The framework gives you a shared language for the different parts of your experience. You can get curious about them and choose what support or action fits now.

Favourite Self — Who I choose to be today. The values, qualities and everyday choices that feel true to you, adjusted to your actual capacity.

Protector Self — The strategy trying to keep me safe. People-pleasing, overworking, controlling or withdrawing can be ways you learned to manage a perceived risk. The useful question is: what is this part trying to protect me from?

Shadow Self — What sits underneath. The hurt, feelings, needs and survival responses beneath a protective pattern. This is an invitation to notice and understand your experience with compassion.

Higher Self — The wider possibility. Your intuitive, expansive perspective: what might be possible, and what small step feels right when you have room to stretch?

Why it can help insight become action.

The practical logic is simple: notice what is happening, understand the context, choose a manageable experiment, and learn from the result.

Make the pattern visible. Naming a reaction gives you something specific to explore, rather than another vague reason to be hard on yourself.

Understand the protection. Asking what a pattern has been trying to do can reveal the need, fear or old rule behind it. That gives you a more useful starting point for a different response.

Work with today’s capacity. The Journal checks body, mind and soul alongside time, resources, obligations and support. Your next step can fit your real day.

Collect your own evidence. Small experiments and honest reflection help you notice what supports you, what needs adjusting and what you want to try again. This is a personal learning process, with room to change your mind.

Give it a crack. One ordinary moment at a time.

1 Meet your Favourite Self. Begin the Journal in order the first time. Explore how you want to feel, what you value and what living as you could look like right now.

2 Check what is available. Notice your inner capacity and outer reality. Choose one thing that matters, with support or adjustments where needed.

3 Notice a Protector. When a familiar reaction shows up, use the Audit to explore what you notice in your body, mind and soul, what the pattern is protecting and the story behind it. Take it at your own pace.

4 Try one small choice. Ask: What would my Favourite Self do here, with the capacity I actually have? It might be pausing before saying yes, resting, asking for help or setting a boundary.

5 Reflect and repeat. What happened? What felt supportive? What would you keep or change? Return to the Journal as life changes; use the pages that help you.

Small example: If your automatic yes leaves you stretched, your experiment might be: “Let me check my capacity and get back to you.” Notice what comes up, what support you need and what happens when you try it.

If an exercise feels overwhelming, pause and seek support that feels appropriate for you. You set the pace.

Download the Journal for your ongoing experiments, and the Protector Self Audit for a closer look at a pattern when it appears. Save them, print them or scribble digitally. Start with one page.
